Dying-Gaul4.jpg
The Dying Gaul
This life-size reproduction of the famous Greek sculpture, in this instance sculpted from 2-pound Urethane foam, was a rush job. This sculpture was carved in 4 days, then a thin resin surface coat applied. The sculpture was then lightly sanded and painted to resemble aged marble.
Neoclassic Figures
Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas NV

This is a 15-foot tall, very high quality Neo-Classical figure, finished, and ready to be  molded. The sculpture was carved in Urethane foam, and then coated with Chauvant clay, allowing for a greater level of surface refinement than the foam would accommodate. Traditionally, the armature is designed first, but in this instance, the foam figure was carved, and then the armature was installed in the foam before the clay was applied. When the piece was molded and cast in fiberglass, the armature was reinstalled. The end result is an extremely durable sculpture that will withstand the elements for years.

Lions of Advertising
Sculpted in just four days, these 10-foot-long by 6-foot-tall lion statues had a short life as set pieces for a commercial advertisement. The resin coating shown here was aged to appear as weathered bronze for the filming. In the second photo, lions statues adorned the set of the Addams Family Mansion.
"Mortal Kombat”
Standing more than 8 feet tall, this dynamic, imposing sculpture was carved from Urethane foam, and then chipped and aged to resemble time worn stone. One-time use items, such as this warrior, are wonderful for special occasions, stage sets, or commercial window display. They do not require armatures, or extensive surface treatments or molding. In this case, a light coating of Polyester resin was applied, and the piece was then painted and weathered to resemble severely aged and distressed granite.
